Common questions
If your question isn't answered here, get in touch and we'll help.
Do I need a referral to use HealthLocate?
No. You don't need a referral to use HealthLocate — just tell us what service you're looking for and we'll connect you with a provider. Some services may still require a referral from your doctor before treatment can begin, and your provider will let you know if that applies.
How much does this cost me?
Our service is free to you. Treatment provided by the provider is billed to your workers compensation claim, subject to approval from your insurer.
How are providers on your panel selected?
All providers on our panel have confirmed they hold current professional registration for their discipline and are able to accept workers compensation referrals. That means you shouldn't lose time finding out whether a provider will accept your referral — you can get started sooner rather than waiting while that's sorted out. When you make a request, we look at which of them offer that service in your area and have availability. We don't assess your injury or advise on what treatment you need — that's a matter for you and your doctor, and whether your treatment is approved is a decision for your insurer.
Do I need to send you my medical documents?
No — we don't collect or store medical documents or claim details. We only take your contact details, the service you're looking for and your area. Keep your referral, certificate of capacity, claim number and any reports for your provider, who will ask for them directly. Our Privacy Policy sets out how we handle your information.
How soon will I hear from someone?
The provider will contact you within one business day of your request being received. Depending on the service, treatment may need approval from your insurer before your first appointment can go ahead.
What if the service I need isn't listed?
Select "Other" in the form and tell us what you're looking for in the additional information box. We'll get in touch to see whether a provider on our panel can help. If you're unsure which service suits your injury, your doctor is the best person to advise.
Can someone else submit a request for me?
Yes. Case managers, treating doctors, employers and family members can submit a request on someone's behalf, provided that person is aware and agrees. Select "Someone else" in the form and tell us who you are and your relationship to the injured worker.
What areas do you cover?
We currently cover Sydney. If you're outside that area, get in touch — we may still be able to point you in the right direction.
